Seeing Stars

Well, it’s been a while since my first post.  It’s been a busy start to the year making jewellery, painting our shop, buying a new car (a Mini Cooper – I’m in love) and organising a trip to New York.  I can’t quite believe that tomorrow will be the first day of March – eek!

For most of February I’ve been slightly obsessed with my new Modalu bag I got at Christmas.  This is one of their ‘Pippa’ bags and was in their sale (thankfully!).  I first noticed this bag in an advert in a magazine and was hooked by the star print – I find it difficult to resist anything with stars, similar to my animal print penchant.  So, when I popped online to the Modalu website I was delighted to see it was on sale, even though it was still on the higher side for my normal bag budget (budget – now there’s a concept I should become more familiar with…).  This is the medium size of bag – they also do a mini version but I felt this one would be more suited to my habits of carrying around lots of stuff I don’t need in any given day.  The star pattern is on the printed hair finish of the leather and the bag has three separate compartments with additional internal pockets.  So, all in all it’s a fantastic bag for fitting lots in, is very well made and looks amazing.  I have a feeling this bag will be with me for a while and I will keep a lookout at Modalu’s other offerings.  You just can’t beat a bag this gorgeous!

I’ve got a few exciting things lined up for March so let’s see where this month takes us…

New Year, New Blog

NewYear

So, after months (maybe years!) of thinking about it I am eventually beginning my blogging journey.

I have so many random interests this seems a good way of keeping track of them and there may, I hope, be somebody out there who might take an interest in my rambling!

About me – well, I love my day job – I am lucky enough to co-own a gift shop with my Mum, where we feature our range of silver jewellery.  So, day to day, I am either in the shop dealing with our lovely customers and suppliers or in our studio, designing and making jewellery.  Lucky, I know!

Living in Edinburgh I love getting out and about and love taking photos round town.  No doubt some of these will pop up here.

So, let’s see, maybe some random facts about me is the way to go here in my first post –

1)  Apparently I like the word ‘So’, so (see?!) you’ll be seeing a lot more where that came from…

2) I love traveling, big trips, city breaks, going a wander – some of my recent trips have included Dubrovnik, Dubai and Mauritius.

3) But my all time favourite place is New York, as pretty much anyone who has ever spoken to me will know.  Did I ever tell you about the time I saw Al Pacino on Broadway…

4) I dream of having a walk in wardrobe, y’know one of those ones with all the shelves for shoes and bags…preferably in a Victorian townhouse in Edinburgh – or a loft in NYC (dream big!).

5) I love graffiti, street art, typography, neon signage, tattoos, cool lighting, interiors magazines, AC/DC, Elvis, watching the darts on the telly (yeah, really) and make up, especially weird Halloween stuff and retro looks.

Now that we’ve got that covered what kind of thing can you expect to see here?  There’ll be some talk of jewellery, style, beauty, interiors and photography, the odd review – but I’m sure it’ll all evolve so let’s just see where we go.

So (see!), I’ll be back soon with my next bit of chat!
